HILE SHE RAN ALICE PUSHED HER hand through the looking glass.
The crowd followed her still.
She hopped over a mushroom and pushed
her other hand through the looking glass.
The crowd drew nearer.
She hopped and pushed one leg through.
The crowd drew even nearer.
She launched herself forward, pushed through her other leg.
The crowd gathered.
Only Alice’s head remained out of the looking glass, she looked around the gathering, before smirking and disappearing completely into the looking glass.
All that was left was the looking glass, just as it had been before. The portly man picked it up, turning it this way and that, while the crowd looked on in shock.
