The Screaming Stones of Stokkøya, 2024

A series of breath-activated sculptures designed to mimic the call of the Common Swift (Apus apus), the worlds most airborne bird. Made as part of a residency on the rural Norwegian island of Stokkøya, the sculptures are designed to be blown by the locals to encourage Swifts to nest on the island. They are permanently installed in the local coffee room along with a calendar and instructions to inform how and when to use the sculptures.

Local rocks, recycled life whistles, calendar, oak, untreated pine, reclaimed wooden roof tiles

The Screaming Stones of Stokkøya was made in collaboration with Georgia Gendall, Eleanor Turnbull and Millie Earthy
